The waters of the American River are crystal clear and feed into Folsom Lake, providing fresh water for the region and amazing opportunities for water sports, recreation or peaceful relaxation.  Miles of jogging and biking trails wind through Folsom’s greenbelt neighborhoods, connecting to the American River Bike Trail, extending all the way to the Golden State’s capital, the city of Sacramento.

Points of interest in the City’s Civic Center include the Folsom Community Center, Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, the Folsom Public Library, the Gallery at 48 Natoma, the Folsom Senior Center, sports fields, a picnic area and gazebo, and more.

Folsom is Rich in History

At the Folsom History Museum you can learn about the Pony Express, the pioneers who settled here, the gold prospectors from the Gold Rush, the Chinese who built the railroads, the Maidu Indians who first lived here, the origins of Folsom Prison, and how Johnny Cash ended up singing the “Folsom Prison Blues”. 

The Historic District is home to a number of museums proudly hosted by the Folsom Historical Society, including the Folsom Pioneer Village and the Museum of Wonder & Delight.  Just up the road from Sutter Street, at the Folsom Prison Museum, visitors may hear stories of prisoners and their guards from a retired prison guard.

The City of Folsom is always bursting with activity offering something for everyone. Annual community events include Concerts in the Park, a Run with Nature, a Renaissance Faire, and a Spring Eggstravaganza.

From the latest cinema to live local theater, and everything in between, Folsom has it all. On the campus of Folsom Lake Community College, The Harris Center hosts hundreds of events every year. There isn't a bad seat in the house for concerts, off-Broadway Theater, and many other acts that come to town.
